Think Children are very sad to announce the devastating news that our Treasurer, Jenny Gadsby, passed away in a tragic accident over Christmas. Jenny had been on the board of Think Children since 2015 and in that time her commitment, financial expertise and passion for making a difference to children’s lives helped to shape the charity in a highly effective way.
Her incisive questioning and challenges at board meetings gained her the respect of everyone and her trademark larger-than-life personality, integrity, can-do attitude and kindness will be sorely missed by us all.
Born in Lincoln, Jenny went to work in the family firm, a retail business, for 25 years, before branching out and starting an accounting company called Yours 4 A Day Ltd, based in Newark.
Jenny retired last year but continued to dedicate her time to the community in voluntary roles at Think Children, Newark Rotary, Girton Sailing Club and Collingham Tennis Club, as well as enjoying her beloved horse-riding, walking her dog Chloe, kayaking, dancing, gardening, ‘adopting’ animals, trips to the Norfolk coast, sailing and spending time with family and friends.
Jenny was a remarkable woman and we regard it a privilege to have known her. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go to Jenny’s family and friends who are struggling to come to terms with the awful loss.
