Funding Boost from Santander Foundation

THINK CHILDREN BOOSTED BY DONATION FROM THE SANTANDER FOUNDATION Think Children is delighted to have received £3,369 to fund emotional wellbeing support for children in the Newark area. The donation was provided by the Santander Foundation, which offers Discovery Grants to UK registered charities for projects that help disadvantaged people in local communities. The grant will enable Think Children to provide support for 15 children aged 4-11 that are showing signs of distress and/or anxiety. The charity’s early, preventative approach aims to support children before issues have the opportunity to escalate, becoming harder and more costly to resolve. The charity will offer one-to-one sessions in the safe and familiar surroundings of the child’s primary school by specially trained Emotional Wellbeing Facilitators. They offer children the chance, through play, to release pent-up emotions and explore issues such as bereavement, bullying, family separation and low self-esteem, resulting in long-lasting improvements in coping skills, confidence and well-being.Think Children’s Development Manager, Mrs Wendy Walton-Towle, said; “We are delighted to receive this grant, which will enable us to provide an effective proven service that directly benefits local children, helping them to reach their full potential. Our referral rates are rising year on year and in order to reach more children, we need to continue seeking funds from a range of sources.”Amy Slack, Manager at the Santander Foundation, said: “The Santander Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes throughout the UK. Our branch is committed to playing a key part in the community and we are delighted to be supporting Think Children and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people.”- Ends - Notes to Editors:Media Contact Stephanie Harris at Santander    Email:           Tel:  020 7756 4221 Wendy Walton-Towle at Think Children  Email:    Tel: 01636 676887       About Think Children   Think Children offers early help for children aged 4-11 with emerging emotional, social and/or behavioural issues. Parent/carers have told us that “Nobody wants to know until it’s too late!”     We work with children often struggling to cope with a wide range of issues such as relationship difficulties, parental separation, bullying, bereavement, domestic violence and low self-esteem. Our aim is to make the service as accessible, inclusive and non-stigmatising as possible.   Each child is offered one-to-one sessions that enable them to use the imaginary world of play to release pent-up emotions, clarify how they see their situation and move on with new coping skills. For more information please visit:       Santander Foundation The Santander Foundation is at the heart of the Bank’s community activities, providing grants to small charities and social enterprises working with disadvantaged people to fund skills, knowledge and innovation projects across the UK.
